The star of Showtime's Fat Actress on dating, being called "a big girl"…and the one thing she doesn't have the guts to do on TV.

What's hardest about dating when you're overweight?
I think there's a huge stigma about people being fat, especially for women—not so much men. I think women have to ask themselves, can I live the kind of life I want to by being this weight? That's what I had to do, anyway. And the answer was no. Because I couldn't live as active a life as I wanted to, being like that. I mean, I had a great time getting there, don't get me wrong! But then I thought, okay, now that I am at this weight, now what? I wasn't as fast as I wanted to be.

Did any of your friends or fellow actors ever tell you that you should consider shedding some pounds?
John Travolta was very sweet—he didn't want to call me fat. He just said, "Kirstie, Kirstie. You just need to be a different size." I thought that was lovely!

Any advice for women on dating if they're overweight?
Oh god, I don't have any advice for anyone! I haven't had a date in I don't know how long! I haven't really been out of my house. I've just been staying home.
When do you think you'll start dating?
It's not time just yet. I think July is time. I'm getting ready to go to Italy for two months in the summer.
You seem so confident. Any challenge you haven't conquered yet?
On the show I wanted to be nude. But I didn't have quite enough guts!
